Stunningly restored 1930s a-frame stone cottage located on a private lake in West Mountain State Forest with a new deck, patio, soaring high skylights, and 21’ tall wood-burning fireplace. Resting on a hillside with 180 degree views of two lakes, this breathtaking retreat is a one-of-a-kind experience. Surrounded by mature oaks, ferns, and the tranquil songs of birds, this remarkable home offers unmatched tranquility.
Initially designed as an artists’ studio, the home offers a modern yet rustic aesthetic and meets all the needs of a contemporary respite, without compromising any of its original purpose.
Having undergone a complete gut renovation with entirely new electric and plumbing, the cottage now features a sleek kitchen with custom-built solid wood cabinetry, full-length butcher block island, white stone countertop, brushed bronze Grohe faucet and hardware, and an electric Bertazzoni cooktop with matching built-in oven. The kitchen is also fully stocked with plates, silverware, and cookware as well as a coffee bean grinder, drip coffee maker and microwave.
The entirely new bathroom houses a floating TOTO toilet, matching floating sink, matte black faucet, shower stall with floor-to-ceiling subway tile and pebble-stone basin, recessed lighting, vent fan, glass shelf & vanity mirror, and shiplap siding. Towels, hand towels, toilet paper, a hair dryer, body wash, shampoo, and conditioner are all provided.
Due to its intelligent and eco-friendly design, the cottage naturally stays cool in the summer and warm in the winter. However, there are 3 sources of heat: a wood-burning fireplace with firewood provided, a thermostat controlled baseboard, and a split-system A/C unit. To stay cool, opening the screened-windows and running the 72” ceiling fan creates a lovely fresh air breeze, but the split-system A/C unit is there if further cooling is needed.
The exterior features a large wrap-around deck, bluestone patio with Adirondack chairs, fire pit, propane grill, and stone pathway leading directly to the community lake.
Sleeps up to 4; one queen size mattress in the bedroom loft and a queen air mattress in the basket next to the living room couch. Additional blankets and sheets can be found in the dresser to the left of the fireplace and extra pillows in a plastic zip lock bag behind the reading chair in the bedroom loft.
